Introduction:

         The Project “Light a Billion Lives” commenced in 2010 in the state of Meghalaya and is being implemented by Bethany Society in collaboration with the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies Government of Meghalaya.

The Project is being implemented in 5 villages of

1. Lamjingshai Progressive Cooperative Society, Pyndensohsaw
 2. Mawlongbna Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mawlongbna
 3. Mawteibah Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mawteibah
 4. Namrhenlang Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Kudengrim
 5. Nongtalang Arecanut Processing Cooperative Society, Nongtalang

Objective
• To reduce carbon footprints
• Sustainable Livelihood

Description of Installation

 Mr. Bhaskar from SunTechnics , Nowgoan, Assam & Mr. Esron from Bethany Society, Shillong were the Resource  person for Installation of Solar Charging Station under Light a Billion Lives Campaign  in 5 (five) Cooperative Societies in Meghalaya.
 Bethany Society Bus was used for dropping the materials to all the Stations.
 Partly travel expenses supported by the Entrepreneurs of different Cooperative Societies.

 

 

MAWLONGBNA VILLAGE

 

 

 
• Distance from Bethany Society, Shillong  to the village is about 85Kms
• The SCS is in Entrepreneur’s House
• The members are very cooperated during installation
• Due to site unavailability for pole mounted, roof mounted was done with the inspection and finalization of the Technology Partner from Assam Mr. Bhaskar
• The members present during installation also got trained
• All the Panels, Junction Boxes and Lanterns are working very well after completion
• The SCS was completed on the 14th Dec, 2010 morning.
• Target area is the Local Market and Livelihood.
PYNDENSOHSAW VILLAGE
 
 
 Distance from Bethany Society, Shillong  to the village is about 95Kms
 The SCS is in Cooperative Society Office { Lamjingshai Multipurpose cooperative society }
 The members are very cooperated during installation
 Due to site unavailability for pole mounted, roof mounted was done with the inspection and finalization of the Technology Partner from Assam Mr. Bhaskar
 The members present during installation also got trained
 All the Panels, Junction Boxes and Lanterns are working very well after completion
 The SCS was completed on the 15th Dec, 2010 morning.
 Target group is Livelihood.
MAWTEIBAH VILLAGE

 
 
 Distance from Bethany Society, Shillong  to the village is about 65Kms
 The SCS is in Cooperative Society Office { Mawteibah Multipurpose cooperative society }
 The members are very cooperated during installation
 Pole mounted was done with the inspection and finalization of the Technology Partner from Assam Mr. Bhaskar
 The members present during installation also got trained
 All the Panels, Junction Boxes and Lanterns are working very well after completion
 The SCS was completed on the 15th Dec, 2010 Afternoon
 Target group is Livelihood.
NONGTALANG VILLAGE
 

 
 
 
 
 Distance from Bethany Society, Shillong  to the village is about 135Kms
 The SCS is in Entrepreneur House
 The members are very cooperated during installation
 Due to land papers under process roof  mounted was done temporarily for the time being with the inspection and finalization of the Technology Partner from Assam Mr. Bhaskar
 The members present during installation also got trained
 All the Panels, Junction Boxes and Lanterns are working very well after completion
 The SCS was completed on the 17th Dec, 2010 Afternoon
 Target group is Livelihood.

 

 

KUDENGRIM VILLAGE
 

 Distance from Bethany Society, Shillong  to the village is about 125Kms
 The SCS is in Entrepreneur House
 The members are very cooperated during installation
 Pole mounted was done with the observation and finalization of the Technology Partner from Assam Mr. Bhaskar
 The members present during installation also got trained
 All the Panels, Junction Boxes and Lanterns are working very well after completion
 The SCS was completed on the 18th Dec, 2010 Morning
 Target group Livelihood.
 
Conclusion
Two Coordinators has been appointed by Bethany Society for supervision and monitoring. They visit each SCS twice a month both to supervise and guide the Entrepreneurs. They will also ensure that all records are maintained as per norms laid down by the TERI. It is hope that the solar charging station will improve the Livelihood for a sustainable development in the villages.
